Why do we actually celebrate Christmas?
The first humans shattered the personal relationship with God. This separated everyone from God. As a response, because he loves us so much (Bible – John 3:16), he promised a peacemaker (Bible – Luke 2:14). Over 700 years prior to that, Prophet Isaiah spoke about the arrival of this savior (Bible – Isaiah 9:6-7) who is the light of the world (Bible – John 8:12). This son of God is to be named Jesus (Bible – Matthew 1:21-25) and is the Messiah that the Jews have been waiting for. In abundant joy, the angels declare the savior’s birth (Bible – Luke 2:10). Every year, Christmas reminds us of this unique event.
