I Pray for my Family

I Pray for my Family

I grew up in a Christian family, in which I experienced the impact of prayer. In my father’s company there were around 50 employees who received a monthly payment. Through the intense competition from the Far East and the increasing pressure of the retailers, the company suddenly started going into debt. Every evening we prayed together for God’s intervention.

Some time later, my father unexpectedly received an offer to sell the company. It was God’s answer and the means by which he avoided having to declare bankruptcy.

55 years have gone by since then, and I have experienced many other miracles with God. It’s worth it to talk with God about our problems whenever we experience difficult situations. We might not get an answer right away. Yet God always hears our prayers and answers in our best interest.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

 Matthew 7:7

Today I know that I can lay down at night in peace, without waking up from any nightmares covered in sweat. This is because I trust in God who lets me to sleep in peace and safety. Would you also like to have this peace?

No more nightmares

No more nightmares

I wake up from a nightmare covered in sweat only to hear footsteps. A burglar? I immediately wake my husband up out of a deep sleep. While he scours our apartment for any sign of a burglar, I tremble with fear.

We are often plagued by worries and fears. What are yours?

We read in the Bible that we can indeed have an impact on some things, but that most things in life are out of our control. This is why we often spend our time worrying about things we cannot control. Are you familiar with this?

If you know Jesus Christ, if you are walking through life with him and trust in him, then you don’t have to worry about the things you can’t change. You can entrust these things to him.

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

 Psalm 4:9

Today I know that I can lay down at night in peace, without waking up from any nightmares covered in sweat. This is because I trust in God who lets me to sleep in peace and safety. Would you also like to have this peace?

The Perfect Line

The Perfect Line

Ted Ligerty is a retired, extremely successful American ski racer. Today he can be proud to have been an Olympic champion, World champion, and World Cup champion many times over. The fascinating thing about his skiing style was that, in contrast to his competitors, he hardly ever touched one of the gates. The other ski racers’ runs often looked better and more precise at first glance. However, Ted possessed the skill of letting the skis glide to generate a high speed. His opponents often clutched too much to the line and forgot the most important thing as a result.

We are often most concerned that our life looks good on the outside. What people think of us is really important to us. Like a skier keeping to a line, we cling too much to external things and formalities and thereby lose sight of our goal.

Jesus says: “I am the way and the truth and the life.”

John 14:6

Life with Jesus doesn’t always look meaningful or attractive. Yet a relationship with him is the meaning of life, the perfect line, that brings us successfully to our goal.

Are you able to let your skis glide?
