One person wants to please the other person, and the other just does whatever makes him happy at the moment. Which principle do you live by?
The Bible describes something completely different. In Galatians 2:20 it says: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Isn’t that condescension and being other-directed?
God, the Father in heaven. has the best intentions for me. In Luke 11 verse 11, Jesus explains that he won’t give us a snake when we ask him for bread. He has wonderful thoughts about each person, for he has not just created us arbitrarily. He will carry out his plan for this world at the right time. Jesus will return as King, and he will rule this world with everyone who has entrusted themselves to him!
It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.
